Mount Guyot is an impressive peak visible from U.S. highway 285, northwest of the little town of Jefferson. Split by the Continental Divide it’s one of those dramatic-looking mountains that begs you to climb it the closer you get to it. On this perfect autumn day my wife and I did just that.

View of Guyot on our drive up to Georgia Pass.

Instead of native wildlife we were surprised to see llamas!

Looks pretty tame in this photo, but it's deceiving.

Found this old mine shaft near the base of the mountain.

Of course this old rock hound couldn't resist.

Gugot is one of those mountains I call "a pile of rocks"

Can you spot Rhiannon?

What you can see from the bottom is never the actual summit.

Not sure if this pollution is from a forest fire or just nasty smog from the town of Breckenridge. Made for less than spectacular views.

Finally the summit is in view.

The ridge on Bald Mountain

Almost there.

Found this old wooden sign at the top

A very tiny Rhiannon

Not much of a review, huh? There just isn't much to say when the photos can speak for themselves. Awesome mountain. Awesome climb. Awesome day.
You left out the story of leaving the dog tied up near the base because she refused to go any further. How about listening to her howl and cry until we were too far away to hear it anymore? Lesson learned. Put the dog on a leash and drag her up the mountain.
You and Rhi look great. Love these posts. Hope you’re both well!
Yeah, though it might be an interesting side story, it also may make me look like a bad dog parent. As the author I can leave out stuff like that and keep my reputation spotless. Too late now, haha. Yep, lesson learned (and tested last weekend). Stay tuned.
