Victory For Wolves In Wyoming

Victory For Wolves In Wyoming
The National Resources Defense Council reports that a federal court has ruled that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service violated the law in 2012 when it stripped Wyoming’s wolves of their endangered species protections.  Federal protections have now been restored to all wolves in Wyoming!  Under Wyoming’s wolf “management plan,” it merely had to maintain a bare minimum number of wolves — and wolves could be shot on sight across most of the state.  This week’s federal court ruling will halt this unconscionable killing of wolves until the state puts forth a credible plan for protecting them.

This is a feel-good victory for me.  It’s great knowing that my voice and the voices of thousands of other humans who respect and understand nature have been heard and are having an effect.  While the wolf will never reclaim the territory it once roamed due to our expanded population and drain on resources, we still must keep fighting to stamp out ignorance about the wolf and neutralize anti-wolf sentiment.  This world is better with the wolf, and nature is not complete without it.
