Federal Lands & Citizen Perceptions

Federal Lands & Citizen Perceptions

I get so tired of delusional people bitching about Federal lands and using the Constitution as some sort of defense for their opinions. Some people in this country do not understand the relationship between the Federal Government and lands managed by the Federal Government. The Federal Government does NOT “own” the lands. The lands belong to every citizen in the United States. The Federal Government is simply managing that land FOR the people. This is a good thing, as without such management these lands would be destroyed by certain individuals too selfish and ignorant to value them. You simply cannot have an unchecked, growing population the size that we do and think you can do away with government, laws and regulations. To think otherwise is being ignorant of history -especially our natural history- and the reality of our species. The arrogance that humanity in the context of our complex society today is evolved enough to function well with minimal leadership, laws and government is a complete joke. Government itself is not immune to human folly, but it’s not government that is the enemy. The enemy resides within the people. Our species is prone to immaturity, lack of consideration, ignorance, arrogance, greed, and wastefulness, and to not understand that is to not understand humanity. We are both creators and destroyers, and the government WE elect is supposed to bring the best out of the populace. Is it foolproof? Hell no, but history has shown that if you want to protect an individual’s well-being and freedoms, you have to realize that our populace is full of people who are more than willing to put their self-interests over the freedoms, health, and happiness of others. Again, history shows proof of this over and over. Stop being delusional America. This isn’t a conspiracy. This is simply a war that you are creating because of your adoration of your own perceptions. You are not helping things. You are making things worse. The government is not out to get you. Your species just needs to grow up and realize that complete freedom to do whatever you want wherever you want and whenever you want without consequences died long ago with our reckless advancement of civilization at the expense of millions of acres of forests, healthy ecosystems, clean air and free-flowing water, and the billions of animals that got slaughtered in the process. Real freedom and happiness can be found in today’s protected lands. If you really want to go to church and be close to God, go out into nature -the kind that is still unspoiled by human civilization. You can thank our government for having the leadership to set aside some of this type of land before it was destroyed forever. Beware of those who want to take it away and falsely use the Constitution as a defense. This is not the same simple society that existed in the late 1700s when the Constitution was ratified, and you have a responsibility to your fellow humans now that you never had before. Anyone who knows the natural history of the Americas since the deluge of European white settlers can attest to the mass destruction and defiling of these lands and know that we must tread lighter now with less individual self-interests and more thoughtful consideration for the preservation and benefit of all.

The Federal Government is simply a representation OF the people, with its leadership elected BY the people to make decisions FOR the people. This is completely necessary in a society as large and as complicated as ours. You can complain about the office holders you and your fellow citizens elected, but you must understand that your complaints are less about WHO is in office and more about our dysfunctional, polarized populace that can’t agree on facts or history because too many of us have been blinded by misinformation or lack of information due to the arrogant, ignorant company that too many of us keep and has been passed down from ignorant generation to ignorant generation. Unfortunately the upper, college educated class is not immune to this, either. Most of us do not have a choice in what family we are raised in or the community of people we grow up with, but once you become an adult it is your responsibility to open your mind and recognize that what you have been taught and are comfortable with is not necessarily correct. You must seek out worldly knowledge and experience yourself and then reevaluate your belief systems. That especially includes politics and religion. It does not matter what you WANT to believe. What matters is the TRUTH. Be wary of your perceptions and preconceived notions. They should never replace an open mind.

What is great about the United States Of America. Everything in red is what is collectively owned by all U.S. citizens to enjoy, but not abuse like so many private individuals or industries would for profit or out of ignorance. For the most part these lands have the chance to retain their beauty and natural diversity and will be enjoyed by future generations.
